I just saw this for the first time today and thought it was SO COOL. This would be an awesome experiment to do at home with your kids.
Japanese author Masaru Emoto hypothesized that the words we use affect water either positively or negatively. In his experiment, he spoke loving or hateful words at different water droplets right before they were frozen and he says that the resulting crystals were either beautiful or ugly depending on whether they recieved positive or negative words.
I don't know where the idea came from to try this idea on molding rice, but several people have performed this experiment with similar results.
They have 2 containers of cooked rice, into one container loving, positive words are spoken, and into the other container hateful, negative words are spoken. In each of their experiments, the "hate" container grew mold much more quickly and abundantly than the "love" container.
